We’re fields of energy in an infinite energy field.

What is Energy Psychology?
Energy Psychology is a new and exciting field that combines cognitive-behavioral therapy with ancient healing traditions. The methods build on the shoulders of western psychology where it is understood that early experiences shape our current mental, emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns. Through talk therapy alone, insight and understanding of our problems can be gained and coping strategies learned. However, transformation doesn’t occur and life circumstances continue to trigger distressful emotions, unwanted behaviors and negative thoughts. By applying the energy principles of ancient healing traditions, which is that the body is an electrical system and that all matter is energy, practitioners have found that we can shift internal states of bodily experience and bring about changes in the way people feel, think and behave.
Energy Psychology stems from cutting edge developments in the fields of acupuncture, medicine, psychology, chiropractic and kinesiology. This field reveals how the conflicts and traumas active within the psyche are encoded as information within the body’s energy system. Dr. Phil Mollon, in his book, “Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy” shows how it is possible to apply the principles of energy psychology modalities to the deep structures of the personality. He has found that all the accumulated knowledge of psychoanalysis, as well as the formulations of contemporary cognitive therapies, is found to have an expression within the energy fields that are at the interface of the mind and body.
What can I expect from an energy psychology session?
Energy Psychology methods are designed to calm mind-body distress by addressing the disruptions in the energies that run through and around the body. Many practitioners have observed that creating a safe environment and connecting empathically with the client along with the use of simple eye movements, self-tapping, holding or rubbing on acupressure points on the face and body while putting attention on the troubling issue reduces mental and emotional distress in a gentle, safe and effective way.
What are some of the issues that energy psychology methods address?
These methods are reported to be effective with reducing anxiety and depression, healing trauma, conquering addictions, eliminating panic attacks and phobias, letting go of limiting beliefs, increasing performance, losing weight and stopping insomnia. In addition, these body-mind techniques are empowering, as self-help tools. They are elegantly simple, profoundly effective and can be used outside of the practitioner’s office when needed.
Research is now validating the “miracles” that many practitioners are witnessing in their offices. Studies have shown dramatic changes in brain scans, indicating that Energy Psychology techniques bring about significant change at the neurological level. This field is providing practitioners with invaluable tools for working with mind-body distress. Medical Director of The Trauma Center and Professor of Psychiatry, Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. has said, “Energy Psychology techniques and procedures can bring about remarkably rapid changes in the way people feel and move through the world.”
